Kent is a 4^thgeneration Spokanite and grew up in the south valley area of Spokane. He attended McDonald Elementary, Evergreen Middle School and both Central Valley and University High Schools. Kent is an Eagle Scout and has lifelong passion for leadership. Following his entrepreneurial roots, Kent purchased, remodeled and sold houses. Kent purchased his first business based on his experience with the board game Cashflow 101, how to get out of the rat race.The game would also have him purchasing a laundry facility and turning it into a profitable business. Today, Kent is the owner of Happy Laundry & Dry Cleaning; a company that specializes in commercial and personal laundry and dry cleaning services. Through Kent’s experience in Leadership Spokane (Class of 2009), he was introduced to the Northeast Youth Center. He was offered an opportunity to serve the community on the NEYC Board of Directors. He’s been a member of this Board and a member of the Finance Committee for over 6 years. In September of 2013, Kent married the love of his life, Monica Wales (Class of 2012). Kent and Monica met through a mutual friend, Karene Lowman. Karene was in the Leadership Spokane class of 2009 with Kent and served on the EWU Alumni Board of Directors with Monica. Kent continues to support Leadership Spokane through his time and talents. Kent likes to watch the dryers and sing “the wheels on the bus go ’round and ’round.” When he’s not managing the business, Kent is kayaking or at Newman Lake throwing the ball for his black lab, Jakson.
