The Perfect House Cleaning Schedule

Summer has arrived. The sun is high in the sky, the river’s raging, the woods are calling. Most people would rather be doing anything but chores, so things start to fall through the cracks. THat’s where a simple house cleaning schedule comes in. Don’t let those pesky chores pile up. Take some advice from Morning Chores and start your own easy cleaning schedule.

For a Warm Winter, Take Care of Your Clothes!

This winter, Spokane has been wet, icy, wet, snowy, snow-covered, snow-ridden, slick, slushy and cooooolllldddd. We need all our resources to get by! From extra blankets to thick jackets and gloves, winter is full of fluffy coverings that just don’t fit in a traditional washing machine. Here’s a list of winter clothes & items best left to the professionals.

Blankets, Blankets, Blankets:

While comforters, big blankets and pillows stay fresh and clean a lot longer than bed sheets, they still need to be washed a few times a year. A good rule of thumb is to send them in for cleaning when the seasons change! But remember, if someone’s been sick, it’s a good idea to wash all their bedding.

Wool blankets are some of the warmest, most reliable blankets around. But you have to be careful not to treat and clean them with harsh chemicals! Just send them in for a good dry cleaning.

Ski Stuff

Did you know that you are actually supposed to wash your ski jacket and pants? And that, as dirt, grime and sweat build up in it season after season, it affects your winter clothing’s performance? Help your clothing help keep you warm by keeping it clean. While we can wash your gear at just the right temp, with a thorough tumble dry, you could also consider a hearty dry cleaning! So long as your jacket isn’t stuffed with down, dry cleaning will have it looking good as new.

Hats, Gloves and Scarfs

Hats, gloves and scarves are all up in your face, all the time! It’s important to remember all the facial oil, sweat, even germs and mildew that build up in these winter articles. Make sure to wash them (or send them to us!) three to five times each winter. About once or twice a month!

Don’t Let Stubborn Stains Spoil Your Smile!

These stain vanquishing tips from the Coin Laundry Association are sure to have you cleansing your clothes, no sweat.

Promptness, Persistence, and Patience will save your clothes from stains!

  • Promptness — treat stains fast, before laundering! Laundering untreated stains can set them deeper.
  • Persistence — if the clothing is worth the effort, take the extra time to follow stain-removing procedures.
  • Patience — you might need to repeat a process several times to get out tough stains.

Remember to always check care labels on the stained garment before attempting stain removal procedures.

Tough Stain Solutions:

  • Rinse in cold water to dilute the stain.
  • Pre-treat remaining stain and wash in the hottest water the fabric can handle, using appropriate bleach.
  • If the stain remains, soak in warm water and pre-soak product.

Grass, Makeup, Grease/Oil, Mayonnaise, Mustard, Pencil Lead

  • Pre-treat stain and launder in hottest water that’s safe for the fabric, using chlorine bleach if it’s safe for the fabric.
  • If stain remains, soak in warm water with a pre-treat product. Rinse and re-launder.
  • Nail polish remover can be effective on stubborn makeup stains like lipstick.

  • Dab the stain with rubbing alcohol and/or spray with pre-treat product or hairspray until wet. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Pre-treat stain and launder in the hottest water that’s safe for the fabric, and use appropriate bleach.

Mud, Ketchup/Tomato Sauce, Eggs, Meat Juice/Gravy

  • Remove as much dried stain as possible from fabric
  • Soak in a bucket of water
  • Pre-treat and launder using hot water and appropriate bleach

Don’t Let Laundry Light Your Fuse

The Coin Laundry Association took a national survey, and the results are in! There’s three things that really bug America about doing laundry. Folding, carrying up and down stairs, and when the washer finishes before the dryer. Since we at Happy Laundry are out to make your lives easier, we’re going to take away those frustrations! Don’t like to fold? We love it! Hate going up and down the stairs? Just get your laundry to the front door, and we’ll do the rest! Bugged that the washer and dryer are out of sync? Our units hum in perfect harmony. Save yourself some pain, order up some clean and call Happy Laundry today.

Time Management……My Thoughts

Huge subject time management.  Really, do you think that we can “manage” time?  Something that we cannot hold in our hands.  From an existential  perspective time just keeps moving on and clicking away whether I like it or not.   So TIME….what do I do about it.

One thing for sure is that I try to value each and every moment that I have.  Whether spending it with friends or family, I try my best to relax and enjoy their company.  These moments will never come again, there will be ones in the future, but these have past.  I slow myself down whenever I can to make the most of my time.   I know this might seem counterintuitive, but it isn’t.  The more I slow things down, the more that I savor each moment and not let it pass hastily.

At work, my time is extremely valuable.  I run this business and if I am wasting my time the business is not moving forward.  One trick that I use every morning (or the night before, which I find best)  is to make the list of the top 3 things that I need/want to get done for the day.  I think deeply about my priorities and just put 3 things on the list, no more.  I can accomplish these three things.  Once they are complete, I know I can move the business forward with the items and if there is time left over, I can decide how best to use it for the rest of the day.

One task the I can take off your plate is Dry Cleaning and Laundry.  Did you know the average family or four spends 9 hours per week doing laundry?  It’s true!  I can give those hours back to you for as little as $26 per week.  Beautifully washed, dried, folded, and delivered.  That is what I can do for you.

I can also save you the weekly trip to the Dry Cleaners in Spokane.  No more getting to the Dry Cleaner at 6:05 and they are closed, thus wasting your trip.  We can Pick-up and Delivery your Dry Cleaning to your door almost anywhere in Spokane.  In fact I will give you $10 off you first order just to give my service a try.

Your time is valuable.  Make the best of it!
